By now, many of you have probably noticed that the bubble is under construction. Like myself, you also might have been wondering why. The bubble is a staple building on our campus which has led to years of success for both the baseball and softball teams. Poly Prep baseball athlete Felix Heller states, “Ever since I came to Poly, the bubble has been a welcoming place where my teammates and I go to improve our skills and make lasting friendships and memories. “
Here are the details: this year, the bubble is undergoing some much needed construction. This fall the bubble is almost 15 years old, and is in dire need of some upgrades. According to Baseball Coach Matthew Roventini, these upgrades include new lighting, new turf floors, new nets, fixed air conditioning, and insulation. In addition to this, the bubble’s exterior is undergoing a makeover as well. With a brand new additional section for throwing baseballs and softballs, as well as for arm care, the exterior is being rebuilt better than ever.
According to the construction crew working on the bubble the tentative date for the finished product lies somewhere in mid to late October. Members of both the baseball and softball team are really looking forward to this renovation. Lucia Zaremba, a star athlete on the Poly Prep softball team says that she is “extremely excited for the new bubble to open,” and is “excited for this spring where the softball team hopes to win a 4th NYSAIS championship in 4 years.”
